Near Shore the Red Snapper is opening up in State Waters which is up to 9 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend May 7.  It will continue to be open only on the weekends until Memorial Day, then it will be open for the whole week until July 9 at midnight it will be closing.

In the Fall it will open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Starting in September and October with Labor Day being included.  Should be a great time to go limit out and then try for some other species, such as King Mackerels, Spanish Mackerels, Bonita, Mingo Snappers, and Amberjacks.

Inshore the Sunset bite has been fantastic for Speckled Trout and Redfish on the grass flats, even after the sun goes down the dock lights have been producing some really nice fish to take home and have a great meal.  Live Shrimp, Berkley Gulp New Penny and Root Beer 3 inch Shrimps with a popping cork has been a great way to get in on the action.  Mirrordines that look natural are also very effective around the docks and grass flats.

Mid April has started out with a great bite of many different species.  In the mornings with the Spanish Mackerels, Mangrove Snappers and Red Snappers in the bay have been biting on live shrimp on a Carolina rig or a fly line with a small 1/4 oz split shot sinker.

The sunset bite is all about the Redfish and Speckled Trout on the grass flats with popping corks rigged with a live shrimp, small pinfish or finger

mullets.  Mirrorolures are also very effective right now.

The first day of Spring was a great trip.  The weather was calm and the sun was out.  We started out fishing inshore for some Mangrove Snappers and Sheepshead.

Jr. Angler Patrick caught the biggest Sheepshead and he was all smiles for the rest of the day.  The whole boat ended up catching one or more Sheepshead and many Mangrove Snappers, we went thru 10 dozen live shrimp.   After we loaded up the cooler we decided it was such a nice day to venture out into the Gulf to go catch and release some Red Snappers.  Everyone on the boat ended up with a nice Red Snapper even the kids.  It was time to head in and get a group photo and clean the catch for there supper. Great times and tight lines.
